Beach Picnic : Pluto Original Animation Production Drawing (Walt Disney, 1939).
Showcased getting his bell rung, this hilarious animation drawing of Pluto comes from the production of the 1939 short Beach Picnic. Directed by Clyde Geronimi, this animation brought us an uncommon duo of Donald Duck and Pluto as the stars, following the two on a silly swimming trip at a beach. This image captures the moment a bell falls onto Pluto's head after losing his one-sided fight against Donald's flotation device. Leading to Pluto crashing into an old, beached boat, seen near the 3:58 timestamp of the short. Rendered with graphite and colored pencil on a partially trimmed 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper.
This is a magnificent drawing, with a very expressive Pluto !
The paper used by Disney studios in the 1920s-1930s contains a distinctive watermark, visible in one of the photos, which further attests to its authenticity.
Condition : This vintage piece of production artwork is in very good condition with age-related toning, handling wear, slight linework smudging, light drafted lines, and edge wear including a trim along the bottom edge of the sheet and repunched pegholes. (See photos)
