Jetter Mars : Original Animation Production Cel with Key Hand-Painted Background + Layout Drawing (Toei Animation, 1977).
Conceived originally as a full-color remake of the 1963 Astro Boy anime series, Jetter Mars later turned into its own series due to problems in the remake's production. The series was directed by the famed Rintaro, who later oversaw anime productions like Dragon Quest, X/1999, and Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis. Showcased riding a flying car, Mars is hand-painted on the 12 field production cel, presented on a great hand-painted production background done in gouache on background board. The production cel shows light linework fading and small spots of paint loss on the vehicles seat and front bumper. The background was affixed to the cel with archival artist tape.
This set includes an original layout from the series.
