GOOFY : Original Animation Artwork Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940)

Tugboat Mickey : Original Production Used Goofy Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940).

Goofy is charged with shoveling the coal into the engine of Mickey's tugboat (a task bound to spin out of control) in the Clyde Geronimi-directed theatrical short Tugboat Mickey, released on 4/26/1940. The film follows Goofy, Mickey Mouse, and Donald Duck as they clumsily answer an SOS at sea (they realize too late that the SOS is a fictional radio program). This original animation drawing feature the lovable Goofy as seen at the 2:56 mark of the film. The drawing is rendered in graphite and color pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. The drawing show minor studio handling and edge wear with light toning. Some of the best Goofy close-up drawing we've seen to date! The condition of this vintage artwork is very good, the state of conservation is exceptional.

The paper used by Disney studios in the 1920s-1930s contains a distinctive watermark, visible in one of the photos, which further attests to its authenticity.
