The New Adventures of Zorro "Three Is a Crowd" Original Animation Production Cel with Key Master Background (Filmation, 1981).
"With a mask as my disguise I ride into the night and raise my sword in the name of justice. For I am... ZORRO!" Here is an original hand-painted Key Master cel setup featuring Don Diego de la Vega, aka the justice-seeking, tyranny-fighting, swordsman Zorro fighting off his nemesis Captain Ramon. Premiered nearly 35 years ago, this cel was produced for the very first episode (out of 13) of The New Adventures of Zorro titled "Three Is a Crowd". The action-packed Filmation series was animated in Japan by Tokyo Movie Shinsha; it was the only series Filmation outsourced, although the studio did provide storyboards. This daring image can be seen near the 6:17 timestamp, as Zorro strikes his first blow against Captain Ramon in the series - a great moment to celebrate this classic show!
This unique piece is composed of 3 elements: 1 cel for the table, 1 cel with the characters and a hand-painted key master background. The key master cel setup is in very good condition with light production handling and slight linework fading.
